An OCTOEN ECO-30 KSN is part of a UNDP-funded project in Georgia. The project team plans to install the unit at one of the HORECA (hotel, restaurant and catering) businesses in the port city of Poti. The ECO-30 KSN is our compact on-site composter for up to 30 kg (66 lb) of food waste a day; it runs on a standard single-phase supply and needs no water connection.
A demonstration for the whole sector
The installation is a demonstration. Its goal is to show hotels and restaurants in the region how food waste can be handled on site, and to encourage them to install similar equipment. Other businesses will be able to see the machine at work in a real kitchen: food waste goes in, and a 12-24 hour composting cycle turns it into compost while cutting its volume by up to 90%.
Why on-site composting suits HORECA
Kitchens produce food waste every day, and it is the heaviest and wettest part of their waste. Processing it where it is produced cuts pickups and the waste sent to landfill, and it gives businesses a practical way to work toward Zero Waste goals.
